Bangladesh made history by winning their first T20I series against Sri Lanka. They beat the hosts by eight wickets in the final match on Wednesday, July 16, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, taking the series 2-1.

Mahedi Hasan was brilliant with the ball, taking a career-best 4 wickets for just 11 runs. His performance helped Bangladesh keep Sri Lanka to a low total of 132 for 7. Only Pathum Nissanka showed some resistance, scoring 46 runs.
In reply, opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim played a match-winning innings. He scored an unbeaten 73 off 47 balls, which is also his highest score in T20Is. His innings included 6 sixes and 1 four. Tanzid formed key partnerships with Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy as Bangladesh chased down the target in just 16.3 overs.
Bangladesh Innings
Bangladesh didn’t start well. Parvez Hossain Emon was out for a golden duck on the very first ball. Litton Das was also given out, but the decision was overturned by DRS. After that, Litton and Tanzid played positive cricket, hitting sixes and keeping the scoreboard moving. Their 74-run partnership ended in the 9th over when Litton was dismissed for 32.
Tanzid continued to attack, reaching his fifty in only 27 balls. Even when he got a life as Theekshana dropped a catch, he made full use of it by hitting more boundaries. Towhid Hridoy supported him well, rotating the strike and hitting a few boundaries of his own. He scored the winning run and finished the game in style.
Sri Lanka’s Innings
Sri Lanka chose to bat first but had a poor start. Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera got out within the first two overs. Mahedi then took the key wickets of Dinesh Chandimal and Charith Asalanka, putting more pressure on the hosts.
Pathum Nissanka tried to hold the innings together but kept losing partners. Eventually, he was also dismissed by Mahedi, who took a return catch. Sri Lanka were 66 for 5 at that stage. Kamindu Mendis tried to fight back with a six and a four but got out soon. By the 17th over, Sri Lanka had just passed 100 runs.
Dasun Shanaka gave the team some hope with two sixes and two fours in the 19th over, helping Sri Lanka reach 132. However, it wasn’t enough as Bangladesh chased the total easily.

Bangladesh won by 8 wickets and clinched the T20I series 2-1. This is their first-ever T20I series win over Sri Lanka.
